Overview of the UK Anger Solutions Programme

The UK Anger Solutions Programme is a structured, clinically informed intervention designed to help individuals understand and change problematic patterns of anger, aggression, and rage. It is suitable for clients whose anger presents a risk to relationships, community safety, or workplace functioning, and for those who are required to complete an anger-management intervention as part of court proceedings, probation conditions, safeguarding plans, or employer-directed remediation.

The programme is also open to voluntary self-referrals; however, it is frequently used as a mandated solution where formal evidence of attendance and engagement is necessary. It provides a structured, clinically-informed approach to understanding and modifying patterns of problematic anger and rage.

The Anger Solutions Programme is designed for clients who:

  • Have demonstrated harmful or escalating anger behaviours
  • Require intervention as part of court, probation, or employer expectations
  • Are experiencing breakdowns in interpersonal, professional, or parenting relationships
  • Have previously struggled to manage anger through unstructured means

By equipping clients with practical emotional-regulation skills, the programme reduces the likelihood of repeat incidents and supports compliance with safeguarding, parenting, workplace conduct, and legal expectations. Its structured approach ensures consistent delivery across clients, while the final report provides a defensible record of the work completed, something many agencies rely upon in decision-making processes.

What We deliver and Who It’s For

The programme begins with a mandatory one-hour specialist assessment, which is used to determine suitability, identify risk factors, and develop an initial formulation of the client’s anger profile. This is followed by ten structured psychoeducational sessions that combine emotional regulation skills, cognitive and behavioural approaches, accountability and empathy development, somatic awareness, and interpersonal communication strategies.

The sessions are delivered online to support accessibility and continuity, and are scheduled in advance to provide a clear framework for engagement. A transparent attendance trail and includes a 90% attendance requirement for mandated clients. The structure of the programme differentiates it from unstructured talking therapies by providing a focused set of tools, exercises, and reflective tasks that can be monitored and measured over time.

Following completion of the programme, mandated clients receive a formal summative report, which includes attendance records, engagement indicators, evidence of behavioural insight, themes worked on, and commentary from the Anger Solutions Specialist. This report can be submitted to courts, probation services, employers, or other professionals requiring evidence of intervention and progress. A certificate of completion is provided alongside this documentation. Non-mandated clients may request a summary report if required.
